Zamfara Corrections Boss Strengthens Security, Forges Stronger Ties with Community Leaders

The Controller of Corrections, Zamfara State Command, CCS Ibrahim Shehu, visited the Bakura, Talatar Mafara, and Maru custodial facilities on January 2, 2024.

 

This visit served as an opportunity to assess operational effectiveness and foster team spirit among officers and personnel of the Correctional Service in the command.

Mustapha Abubakar, ASC1, Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Zamfara State Command, disclosed this in a statement.

 

He noted that during the visit, the Controller observed a commendable synergy between the Correctional Service and other sister agencies. This collaboration is crucial for enhancing security in the state and ensuring the welfare of both custodial staff and inmates.

 

The Controller expressed gratitude to the Emirs, Chairmen, Divisional Police Officers, Army RSMs, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Officers, Officer Commanding State Security Service (OC SSS), and Community Protection Guard (CPG) Askarawa Commanders of the three local government areas for their unwavering support in maintaining peace and security.

 

> “This synergy between our agencies is not only commendable but necessary for better security of lives and properties in Zamfara State. I encourage all officers and men of the various agencies to continue working closely together, as our collective efforts are vital in promoting safety and order in our communities,” stated the Controller.

 

 

 

Similarly, the Controller visited the Sarkin Burmi of Bakura and held discussions with the Chairman of Bakura Local Government at the Local Government Secretariat. These meetings reinforced relationships with community leaders and emphasized collective efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.

 

The Chairman of Bakura Local Government Hon Saidu Danbala acknowledged the visit as a sign of the Nigerian Correctional Service’s commitment to inmate welfare and community safety.

 

> “We are honored to receive Controller Ibrahim Shehu in Bakura. This visit is a testament to the commitment of the Nigerian Correctional Service to improving the welfare of inmates and the safety of our communities.

 

“We, as local leaders, recognize the importance of collaboration with the NCoS in ensuring that our custodial facilities are well-equipped and conducive for rehabilitation. We stand firm in our support for the NCoS and pledge to work together to create a safer, more rehabilitative environment for all.”

 

 

 

The Chairman of Maru Local Government Hon. Bello Muhammad Jabaka echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the NCoS’s dedication to addressing challenges in custodial facilities and improving rehabilitation capacity.

 

> “As the leadership of this community, we are committed to assisting the NCoS in any way we can, including advocating for the timely completion of ongoing projects. Together, we will ensure that our facilities contribute positively to the rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals into society, supporting a safer and more secure future for all.”

 

 

 

During discussions in Maru, the Emir, Alh. Abubakar Gado Mai Gari, emphasized the importance of completing the unfinished site for the NCoS, urging stakeholders to prioritize the project’s completion for effective inmate rehabilitation and reintegration.

 

In Talatar Mafara, the Emir expressed strong support for securing a suitable and permanent site for the NCoS, recognizing this as a crucial step in enhancing correctional services in the area. His support was warmly welcomed by all stakeholders.
