The Chairman of Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hon. Muhammad Lawal Shehu, has launched a vaccination campaign against Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP), a highly contagious and deadly disease, across the council.
Speaking at the Fulani Sale settlement in the Yalwa area of Soba Ward on Tuesday, the Chairman stated that the vaccination is a routine activity carried out by the veterinary unit of the agricultural department of the Council to prevent the spread of diseases and promote livestock productivity.
Represented by Councillor Aminu Kaware of Soba Ward, Hon. Shehu urged pastoralists and animal rearers to present their animals for vaccination, as Council staff would visit each community for the exercise.
The Chairman explained that agriculture is a top priority of his administration and that he would leverage available resources to revolutionize the sector, boost rural economies, and generate revenue for the local government.
Meanwhile, some beneficiaries at the Fulani Sale settlement in the Yalwa area of Soba Ward commended the Chairman for the gesture, saying it would pave the way for modernizing their traditional animal rearing and minimize potential losses due to disease outbreaks.
