About 1000 people with majority of them less privileged in the city of Zaria had received free ear and medical test treatment in Kaduna.

The free medical treatment offered was part of the outreach program to mark Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Society of Nigeria (ORLSON) 32nd Annual General Meeting Kaduna 2024 and Sciencetific Conference with the theme Advancing ORL care in Nigeria: Innovation, integration and Impact held in collaboration with National Ear Care Center Kaduna.

The outreach was offered to Zaria citizens at the Emir’s of Zazzau Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli palace few days ago.

Dr Mustapha Abubakar Medical Director National Eye Care Centre Kaduna and chairman of the conference while addressing the newsmen in Zaria city said the event was held in collaboration with the Association of ENT Surgeon and other Heath Practitioners across the country.

He said they were in Zaria to offer hearing assessment and also to distribute free hearing aids to deserving patients.
“About 1000 patients were screened and we distributed about 25 hearing aids free to patients and also drugs” he said.
According to him, they didn’t concentrate on nose and throat diseases only as they also provided health services in cases of malaria, hypertension, diabetes and hypatatis .
He described the exercise as a great success because it gave the people free access to drugs and treatment .
On their expectations the MD said they hope to create more awareness in the public about the profession and also to let people know that such services existed so that anytime they have problems they can always go to the hospital.
Similarly, Dr Mohammed Sani Coordinator for the Zaria outreach explained further on the success recorded.
According to him, the essence of the outreach is to bring treatment closer to the people that cannot afford treatment due to financial constraints.
Some of the patients treated expressed their excitements and appreciation to the management of the National Ear Care Centre for the free treatment.
