Suspected kidnappers arrested
The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully arrested six suspected kidnappers, a cattle rustler, and five individuals linked to vandalism in a series of operations across the state.
On November 12, 2024, Operation Fushin Kada personnel, led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) SP Usman Na Mai Bindiga, arrested four members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating in the Rahama and Dutsen Wai villages, as well as surrounding areas. The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence.
The arrested suspects were identified as Yahaya Abdullahi, Shamsu Ibrahim, Linus Obasi, and Hauwa Mohammed, all residents of Dutsen Wai Village in Kubau Local Government Area.
During interrogation, Yahaya Abdullahi admitted to conspiring with Shamsu Ibrahim to kidnap a female victim from Rahama Village. The victim was transported to a brothel owned by Linus Obasi in Gidan Dogo, Dutsen Wai, where she was held by Hauwa Mohammed for four days. She was eventually released after a ransom of three million Naira (₦3,000,000) was paid.
The Police have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional members of the kidnapping syndicate and recover their weapons.
In a related operation on November 6, 2024, at approximately 5:30 PM, operatives deployed to a village in Ikara Local Government Area arrested two suspects, Surajo Hassan and Abdulhadir Usman, who were part of a criminal gang involved in several kidnappings and armed robberies. The pair confessed to participating in a recent kidnapping in which the victim was held for 60 days and released only after a ransom of eight million Naira (₦8,000,000) was paid.
The suspects disclosed that they each received one million Naira (₦1,000,000) as their share of the ransom. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are working to apprehend their accomplices.
On November 13, 2024, officers from Operation Fushin Kada, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Audu Abdullahi, a 27-year-old male, in Kujama, Kaduna. Preliminary investigations revealed Abdullahi is a member of a cattle rustling syndicate. He confessed to participating in numerous operations, during which the gang used AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons.
Following Abdullahi’s confession, a search was conducted in a nearby bush, leading to the recovery of a locally made firearm and charms used by the gang. Authorities are continuing efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
