Independence Day: QAT Foundation Unites Karu Community Through Chess, Gifts Cash to Participants

 

In a vibrant celebration of Nigeria’s Independence Day, Halimat Tejuosho, founder of the QAT Foundation, sponsored an engaging chess tournament for the Karu Chess Players Club in Abuja, offering cash prizes and various gifts.

This event not only marked the significance of the nation’s independence but also aimed to promote chess as a crucial tool for intellectual development within the community.

 

Held on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, the tournament attracted chess enthusiasts from various age groups, showcasing their skills and passion for the game.

 

Participants engaged in intense matches, displaying strategic thinking and sportsmanship while fostering camaraderie among players. Many described the competition as interesting and urged that it be sustained.

 

Speaking at the event, Tejuosho emphasized that such events help build a sense of community and encourage collaboration among young minds. She added that the gesture is part of her broader initiative to commemorate this year’s independence, stressing that sport fosters unity and togetherness among members of society, regardless of their differences.

The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony, where top performers received medals and recognition for their achievements.
