Panic struck Galadimawa Village in Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State, when bandits carried out a nighttime raid, abducting the wife and two children of the village head.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, according to local sources. The victims include the wife Fatima Aliyu son Abdullahi Aliyu and Kamal Aliyu another son.

The bandits arrived in large numbers, firing shots to intimidate the residents before breaking through the wall to access the village head’s home.

Hussaini Umar, a traditional leader and Sarkin Fada Galadimawa, confirmed the incident on Tuesday morning, expressing the village’s distress.

“We are not safe here. The second wife of our Village Head, Alhaji Aliyu Haruna Galadimawa, and his two children were abducted around 11:30 p.m. by armed bandits who attacked his residence. The whole community is in shock and urgently needs assistance,” he said.

Umar explained that the attackers were searching for the village head, indicating that their primary target was him. After failing to find him, they ransacked the house, including the ceiling, and took his wife and children.

He called on the state government to deploy more military personnel to the area, criticizing the inadequate mobile police unit. “We urge the authorities to protect Galadimawa village from these bandits. We are weary of the frequent attacks and abductions. Approximately 20 neighboring villages have moved to Galadimawa due to the insecurity, but we still face danger,” he added.

The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, was contacted for a comment and promised to provide more details after gathering information, but had not responded by the time of this report.
