Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Council Chairman, Mr. James Thomas, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew over the nationwide protest.
This was contained in a press statement issued to journalists in Lafia, the state capital, on Thursday by the Chairman of the LGA and obtained by our correspondent.
The statement reads in part: “Following violent protests that rocked some towns in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. James Thomas, has imposed a curfew in the area from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. with immediate effect.
“By this development, there shall be no movement of people or individuals except those on special duties.
“Consequently, there shall be no movement of vehicles, Keke, and Okada within the stipulated time.
“All markets, shopping malls, shops, beer parlours, and other business premises shall remain closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.”
The statement further added that anyone caught violating the order shall be made to face the full wrath of the law.
