In compliance with the directive of the Controller General of Correctional Centres, Haliru Nababa, Zamfara Command has tight Security at the state Correctional Facilities over planned nationwide Protest.
This information was disclosed in a statement issued by Mustapha Abubakar ASC1, Correctional Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Zamfara State Command, on Tuesday.
There have been concerns across the country over the nationwide planned protest by youth scheduled for August 1, 2024, and the federal government is taking measures to ensure the protection of lives and property.
The CPRO explained that, in compliance with the directive, the Zamfara State NCoS Command Controller, Dr. Umar Galadima, has directed the Arm Squad Unit to commence an exercise showing force in and around the custodial centers in the state.
“The exercise is aimed at securing custodial facilities and signaling to the public the adequate security measures put in place to safeguard all custodial formations in the state amid the forthcoming planned nationwide protest.
“All custodial centers across the country have been declared Red Zones by the Federal Government since last year.
“However, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) is already collaborating with other sister agencies to ensure security in the custodial formations,” he said.
