A woman is hospitalized in intensive care following an attack by wolves while jogging in an animal park near Paris.
The incident occurred early Sunday when the 36-year-old victim wandered into the main safari zone of Thoiry park, designated for cars only according to media reports in Paris.
Three arctic wolves attacked her, causing severe bites to her neck, back, and leg.
Thoiry park, located 40km (25 miles) west of Paris, is renowned for its wildlife and allows about 800 animals to roam freely while visitors observe from their vehicles.
Accommodation near the wolf and bear enclosures is available, protected by electric fences and ditches, according to France Info.
The reason for the woman entering the car-only safari zone remains unclear, with no official comment from park authorities.
According to an unnamed police source cited by Le Parisien, it is uncertain whether the woman made an error or if there were issues with the signage.
Park attendants responded to the woman’s screams during the attack and rescued her; she was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital.
An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
