Tragedy: Elephant kills American Tourist in Zambia
News in Brief Juliana Gle Tourneau, a 64-year-old US tourist from New Mexico, was killed by an elephant during a safari in Zambia.
The incident occurred near the Maramba Cultural Bridge in Livingstone, where her vehicle was attacked by an elephant from a nearby herd.
This is the second fatal elephant attack on a US tourist in Zambia this year; previously, Gail Mattson, 79, from Minnesota, died during a game drive in Kafue National Park.
Video footage of the attack showed the elephant charging at the vehicle, which eventually rolled over.
Zambian authorities have urged tourists to exercise extreme caution when observing wildlife.
Zimbabwe and Botswana, neighboring countries, have also reported concerns over increasing elephant populations and incidents of deadly elephant attacks.
