Villagers flee as terrorize communities in Kaduna

Villagers in about 10 communities of Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna state are fleeing following the activities of bandits in the area.

Ruralpostng also gathered that the affected residents, mostly women and children, trekked long distance to Giwa main town in an attempt to save their lives.

Member Representing Giwa West at the State House of Assembly, Umar Auwal Bijimi, who disclosed this to Daily Trust on Monday said majority of the people left their villages because of  the removal of one of the dedicated and committed soldiers assisting them in fighting the bandits in the area.

According to him, Sergeant Usman Hamisu Bagobiri had been very helpful in the fight against the bandits terrorizing the affected communities, which made him very popular among the villagers.

He listed some of the affected villages to include Gogi, Angwar Bako, Marge, Tunburku, Bataro, Kayawa, Yuna villages, among others.

He appealed to the state government and the Military authorities to return the Sergeant and also bring other dedicated soldiers like him to continue their work in the fight against the criminals terrorizing the innocent villagers.

The lawmaker said if nothing was done to bring the soldier back, there is the possibility that the villagers around  Giwa West LGA will not farm this year, which was the intention of the bandits terrorizing them in the area.
