The Kaduna State Government has declared that the kidnapped Kuriga School children from Chikun Local Government Area have been freed.
According to a statement by Governor Senator Uba Sani, posted on his official handle, gratitude was expressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring the safe return of the children.
The abduction, which occurred on March 7, 2024, saw 287 school children taken by bandits, who demanded a ransom of one billion naira for their release.
The exact number of children released and whether a ransom was paid remains unconfirmed by Ruralpostng.
In an official statement, Governor Sani expressed his thanks to President Tinubu and highlighted the collaborative efforts with the National Security Adviser, Mal. Nuhu Ribadu, and the Nigerian Army, emphasizing their dedication to restoring security.
The governor concluded by thanking all Nigerians for their prayers and attributing the successful outcome to Almighty Allah.
