Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto state has inaugurated the Ease of Doing Business Council, promising free land and N100 million investment for investors.
Inaugurating the council under the leadership of his deputy Idris Mohammed Gobir, Aliyu said blamed the immediate past administration for the comatose state of the local economy.

He said his administration his are fully committed to resposition the committee to address the challenges affecting growth and development of the economy as well as remove all bureaucratic bottlenecks in order to access various forms of interventions.
“We are making neccessary arrangement to sponsor trade missions to some selective countries as part of our effort to boost foreign direct investment.
“We have marshalled out incentives such as tax holidays for some period of time, free land, facilitation of entry permit and N100 million investment among others for the prospective investors,” he reiterated.
The council chaired by the Deputy Governor of the state, Engineer Idris Gobir has Commissioners of Commerce; Budget and Economic Planning; Finance ; Land and Housing; Agriculture; Water Resources; Works and Transport, Local Government with the Secretary to the State Government as Secretary.
Meanwhile, the Governor also inaugurated Council of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to boost local businesses which is chaired by the Commissioner of Commerce
