Customs Seizes Smuggled Goods Valued at ₦2.8 Billion

In Kaduna, the Controller of the Federal Unit Operations (FOU), Dalha Chedi Wada, reported the successful impoundment of smuggled items worth ₦2,888,460,294.68 Duty Paid Value. The Unit, under his leadership, has confiscated 264 items of various types, including vehicles, drugs, foreign rice, Mulki, spaghetti, and second-hand clothing.

Chedi Wada urged stakeholders, especially traders, to comply with customs laws, emphasizing the continued closure of land borders with Niger Republic. He pledged strict enforcement of directives from the Nigeria Customs Service to combat smuggling and ensure adherence to the ban on foreign rice and other goods, aiming to boost local industries.

The Controller affirmed the commitment to tackle smuggling and anti-economic activities, promising rigorous application of the law in line with Standard Operating Procedures and the Nigeria Customs Service Act of 2023.
