Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto state has characterized the Court of Appeal’s decision to uphold his election as a clear affirmation of Nigeria’s impartial judiciary.
This statement was conveyed in a release signed by his media aide, Abubakar Bawa on Tuesday.
“We view this triumph as a blessing from Almighty Allah, and we express our gratitude for it.
“We also commend our judiciary for upholding truth and justice.
“Let me take this opportunity to renew my call to the opposition in Sokoto State to join hands with us, so together we can improve the state,” Aliyu urged.
The Governor reassured the state’s people of his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering much-needed democratic dividends to their doorsteps.
“We will continue to create an enabling environment that ensures development in our dear state.
“We are determined to secure our dear state through sustained military operations until we eliminate bandits and other criminals, by the special grace of God.
“We, therefore, need the unwavering support and cooperation of all in this direction,” he affirmed.
Gov. Aliyu also emphasized the importance of the people rallying around the present administration in its quest to transform the state.
He expressed gratitude to the state’s residents for their support and fervent prayers, which have greatly contributed to the successes recorded so far.
He called for more fervent prayers, suggestions, and constructive criticisms aimed at making Sokoto state better.
It should be recalled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, having lost at the Governorship election petition tribunal, rushed to the appellant court challenging the verdict that upheld the victory of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu in the last election.
