A brutal attack by bandits unfolded at a gas station in Bagoma Dam, situated in the heart of Birnin Gwari town. Tragically, during this violent incident, both local vigilantes and another civilian lost their lives, while three additional individuals sustained injuries, receiving medical care at the local government’s primary hospital.
This grievous incident followed closely on the heels of another bandit attack, which targeted a local mosque in the Ga Allah Babba community, a part of the Kakangi Constituency.
This earlier attack resulted in the tragic deaths of the mosque’s Imam and another worshipper on the same fateful Tuesday.
In an official statement, issued and signed by Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari, the Chairman of the Birnin Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, it was revealed that the attack at KBY Filling Station in Bagoma Dam occurred around 6:30 pm, shortly after the Maghreb prayers.
The victims of this heinous attack included a vigilante named Mu’awiyya and an Internally Displaced Person (IDP) from the Dagara community, who tragically lost their lives.
Meanwhile, three others suffered varying degrees of injuries and are presently receiving medical treatment at Birnin-Gwari’s Jibrin Maigwari General Hospital.
Although security personnel promptly cordoned off the area, the perpetrators managed to escape before their arrival.
It was reported that on the same day, in a neighboring village known as Angwar Shakarau, another man lost his life, and his wife and children were abducted by assailants.
Regrettably, efforts to contact the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful as his phone line remained unreachable.
