Why Niger Junta leader meets Ex Kano emir amidst coup crisis

Khalifa  Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 14th Fulani Emir of Kano State in Nigeria, held a meeting in Niamey, the capital of the Niger Republic, with Col. Abdulraham Thaini, the leader of the Niger Republic coup. 

It was gathered that the main purpose of the meeting was to discuss solutions to the military junta’s takeover of power and the ongoing political crisis in the Niger Republic.

The  ECOWAS leaders convened are meeting today (Thursday)  following the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum given to the coup plotters to restore order in the country.

The Junta leader last week refused to meet with Nigeria’s former Military of Head State General Abdulsalami Abubakar and Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar ll.
