NDE Empowers Women in Shoe, Bag Making in Kaduna

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has taken a significant step in empowering approximately 20 women by providing them with training in shoe and bag making, thereby fostering their economic independence.

Additionally, as part of the empowerment initiative, the directorate has pledged to offer each selected woman a loan of N20,000 to help them establish their businesses. The loan repayment period has been set to three months after a grace period.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the State Coordinator of NDE, Ahmed Kawure, advised the women to make the most of their training by practically applying what they have been taught. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the skills acquired during the training program.

He said after the three-month grace period, the women are expected to commence repayment of the loan.

Hannatu Yohana, one of the beneficiaries hailing from Chikun LGA, expressed her gratitude to the directorate for extending assistance through the training and loan program. She assured that she would utilize the resources judiciously and make the most of this opportunity.
