Two managers of MMK Partners and Shopping Plaza, located opposite the Central Market Juma’at Mosque, were assaulted by a group of soldiers.
Eyewitnesses reported that the soldiers arrived at the plaza in two gun trucks and proceeded to attack the victims. They also confiscated phones from civilians who were recording the incident.
According to an eyewitness, the Assistant Manager and the Manager of the plaza were the ones targeted in the assault.
The incident allegedly stemmed from a dispute involving a military officer who frequently visited the plaza but refused to pay the N100 gate fee.
“After being denied access to the plaza to park his car, the officer called some junior soldiers from the special force unit who harassed and assaulted the innocent civilians before taking them away,” the witness explained.
As of now, there has been no response from the Army authorities regarding the incident.
