Army rescue 32 kidnapped victims, kill 4 bandits in Zamfara

Nigerian Army has assured students of the Federal University, Gusau, and other institutions of learning in Zamfara state of a secure learning environment.

The Commander, 1 Brigade, and Sector 1 Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI, Brigadier General S. Ahmed, gave the assurance while receiving the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Muazu Abubakar Gusau, and his management team at his office on Saturday.

Ahmed noted that the Army, in conjunction with other security agencies, would work together to provide robust security for the students.

“Efforts will be put together to ensure a secure environment and maintain lasting peace and harmony in the state,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, 32 kidnapped victims were rescued by the army between Friday and Saturday.

24 of the victims were rescued at Kabugu Lamba, an abandoned village in Maru local government area, on Friday, while eight, including five women and three children, were rescued at Kabaro village on Saturday.

These were confirmed by Captain Yahya Ibrahim, the acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of 1 Brigade, Gusau.

Ibrahim said that four bandits were neutralized in the process.
