Barrister Ahmad Abubakar, the Welfare Secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Zamfara state, was tragically killed by suspected assassins.
The Chairman of the Zamfara state branch of NBA, Junaidu Abubakar, confirmed the murder in a statement obtained by Rural Post.
The statement revealed that Ahmad, affectionately known as Ahmad Kotorkoshi, was brutally murdered in the early hours of Monday at his residence along Nada Road in Kotorkoshi town, Bungudu local government area of the state.
According to the statement, “Based on the information we received, the assailants stormed his residence at around 12:15 AM today (Wednesday). They intercepted and attacked his wife, demanding to know the whereabouts of her husband. Despite her refusal to disclose the information, they mercilessly beat her.”
“When Ahmad heard his wife’s screams, he courageously opened the door and confronted the attackers. In the process, the killers assaulted him with machetes, dragged him to the rear of his house, and inflicted severe cuts on his body, leading to his death. Subsequently, they fled the scene.”
Reports indicate that the deceased was laid to rest at approximately 9 AM, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The statement described Kotorkoshi as a kind-hearted individual, an active member of the NBA branch, and a humble and easygoing person.
“We pray that Allah forgives him and grants him a place in Jannatul Firdaus.”
