The Kebbi State government has made it clear that the Adolescence Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project was suspended because three key officials involved in the project were engaged in fraudulent practices that could undermine its objectives.
The Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Ahmed Idris, disclosed this through a statement yesterday, stating that the officers responsible were dismissed by the previous administration.
The fraudulent activities included processing awarded contracts worth N8.8 billion without the governor’s consent or adherence to proper procedures.
The State government also informed the World Bank about these misconducts and decided to suspend the project to allow for an uninterrupted investigation.
