Kaduna: Police Inspector Arrested for Attempted Murder of Colleague

From M .I., Kaduna

A serving police inspector named Moses Paul has been arrested in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Area of Kaduna State, following allegations of attempting to strangle his fellow officer while on duty.

The incident came to light after a video circulated on social media, falsely claiming that a police officer involved in a series of killings had been apprehended.

To dispel the misinformation, the State Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, issued a statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Inspector Moses Paul.

DSP Jalige explained that the distressing incident took place on June 16, 2023, around 19:30 hours at the Police Mobile Force base of 62 Squadron Kafanchan, Kaduna.

Inspector Moses Paul allegedly made an attempt to kill his duty partner, Inspector Simnawa Paul, by strangling him with a rope. Fortunately, the cries for help from Inspector Simnawa caught the attention of two other police officers, who intervened and rescued him.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the primary motive behind the incident was an attempted seizure of Inspector Simnawa Paul’s rifle.

A comprehensive investigation will be conducted to determine the underlying causes, and appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will be taken against the perpetrator, as stated by DSP Jalige.
