Birnin Gwari Residents raise Alarm as Bandits Surround Town

From M. I,  Kaduna

Residents of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area in Kaduna State have expressed deep concern over the escalating insecurity as bandits continue to encircle the main town.
Despite appealing for help from security agencies, the residents claim that the bandits have already established a presence in the vicinity.

The encirclement of the main town by the bandits was confirmed by Danmasanin Birnin-Gwari, Alhaji Zubair Abdurra’uf, a prominent community leader.

Abdurra’uf had previously raised the alarm about the activities of these criminal elements.

“Some people didn’t take my warnings seriously, but now they realize the gravity of the situation as the bandits have brazenly abducted residents from inside the town.

” This has never happened before, even in proximity to the NAF base and NTA Birnin Gwari,” Abdurra’uf lamented.

The recent abduction took place in a community called Unguwar Gobirawa within the town, further highlighting the audacity and growing threat posed by the bandits.

In response to this alarming development, the Chairman of the local council has imposed a curfew on vehicular movement.

The aim is to closely monitor the movements of the bandits within and around the area during the night. Mustapha Idris, the Chairman’s Adviser, confirmed the implementation of the curfew, which begins at 8:30 pm within the emirate.

Idris clarified that the curfew was introduced to ensure the safety of lives and properties, given the bandits’ recent incursions and abductions within the town.

He emphasized that the intention was not to further burden the residents but rather to provide a protective measure.

The residents of Birnin Gwari remain vigilant and hope that the necessary security measures will be taken to quell the banditry and restore peace to their community.
